It Awaits You!

March 9, 2010...

We don't have to accept current conditions in our own lives if we find them unfavorable.

We always have the power to change.

Our thoughts. Our actions. The people with whom we associate. Our occupations. Our state of health. Our relationships.

All of this is subject to "us." And all of this subject to improving at a moment's notice.

"Practice Makes Perfect!"

March 8, 2010...

It could have been shooting free throws, playing the piano, or learning how to dance. It could have been learning how to read, doing multiplication tables, or learning how to type.

In each of these areas we learned that "practice makes perfect." And in those moments that we did find perfection...and success...life felt pretty darn sweet.

Today's My Lucky Day!

March 7, 2010...

I was walking along the boardwalk at Venice Beach recently when I was given the gift of a smile.

At the same time, I was taught a valuable lesson.

I overheard the little boy walking close by...probably around age 5 or 6...say to his father, "Dad...today is my lucky day."

The dad asked, "Why is that?"

Who surrounds you?

March 6, 2010...

My greatest successes? They have never really been because of me.

Never.

They have always been because of the people with whom I have surrounded myself.

They have been motivating and vision casting. They have been organized and efficient. They have been charismatic and sales oriented.

And every time I have surrounded myself with great people?

Success has come much easier.

"Plan B"...

March 5, 2010...

I was reminded today that when we create a Plan B before Plan A is even given a chance to breathe, we set ourselves up for failure.

It's true.

Napoleon Bonaparte once had his troops burn their own ships as they entered a new battle. He was said to have told his men that if they were to ever return home, they would have to go back in the enemy's ships.

The Perfect Person at the Perfect Time

March 4, 2010...

There are not too many feelings in life as a great as it feels to receive an "encouraging word"...is there?

Some of the encouragement we once received may have even changed our lives.

Wearing Two Faces

March 3, 2010...

Whoever thought being two-faced could pay off?

But it can.

In fact, personal success demands that we are two-faced in a unique sort of way.

First, we need to have the face of the "self-encourager."

We need to be able to pick ourselves up and motivate ourselves when we are down. Waiting for someone else to reinforce our direction or attitude may have us waiting for a long, long time.

That Spark of Greatness

March 2, 2010...

What would spark you to do something great?

Walt Whitman wrote the great American classic, Leaves of Grass, because he was sent an encouraging note from Ralph Waldo Emerson that basically said "Go for it!"

The king of Microsoft, Bill Gates, was initially motivated simply by a desire to advance technology.

What's Your Story?

March 1, 2010...

We're strivers.

We strive for a better job, a nicer car, and a bigger house. We strive to be popular, cool, and well-liked. We strive to be successful. We strive to have money. We strive to be loved.

No wonder we're all so darn tired at the end of the day. Striving all day long can do that to a person.

But if we are really so intent on striving, how about striving to make our life a great story?

Feelings are NOT Facts

February 28, 2010...

FEELING defeated?

Have you had a day recently where you FEEL nothing went right?

Has there been a moment lately where you FEEL that you're spinning your wheels and going nowhere in your career or a relationship?

If so, take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember that "feelings are not facts."
