"We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing."
I came across this George Bernard Shaw quote today at the library. It was displayed prominently on a bulletin board geared to encourage older Americans to stay active.
Sometimes...for some of us more often than others...we vainly look in the mirror and wonder:
"What happened to the years?"
"Where did that wrinkle come from?"
"I could swear my hairline rose again!"
Unfortunately, what we often see mirrored back at us doesn't fill us with too much personal energy.
And then we start to act our age.
The truth is, we are only as young as we feel in our heart. And unless your heart is acting a bit aged and weary, keep acting what you feel.
Life is so much more fun when you do.
