November 1 Extra Mile Day Claps for Thousands of Inspiring Volunteers and Over 500 Cities

PR Newswire, October 2024

Mayors from All 50 States Make Extra Mile Day Declaration LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — In association with Extra Mile America, mayors from all fifty states will embrace the Extra Mile Day movement and acknowledge the difference-making impact of volunteers in their community. At a time when existing budgets are continuously challenged to meet requests for local services, Extra Mile Day celebrates the individuals and organizations that are unselfishly serving and giving back to their communities. The vision of motivational author Shawn Anderson, Extra Mile Day was created in 2009 with 23 inaugural cities. In 2024, over 500 cities are expected to make the declaration.

Extra Mile Day 2024 continues to grow as a nationwide celebration of volunteerism, encouraging communities to recognize both individuals and organizations who contribute beyond expectations. This annual event is not only about honoring service but also inspiring others to get involved, showing that small acts of kindness and dedication can have a big impact.

Communities participating in Extra Mile Day 2024 often host local events, volunteer projects, and recognition ceremonies to highlight extraordinary contributions. Schools, nonprofits, and businesses are joining in to organize activities that engage citizens of all ages. This nationwide acknowledgment helps build a culture of giving and demonstrates the tangible value volunteers bring to their cities.
