The Perfect Person at the Perfect Time

March 4, 2010...

There are not too many feelings in life as a great as it feels to receive an "encouraging word" there?

Some of the encouragement we once received may have even changed our lives.

Wearing Two Faces

March 3, 2010...

Whoever thought being two-faced could pay off?

But it can.

In fact, personal success demands that we are two-faced in a unique sort of way.

First, we need to have the face of the "self-encourager."

We need to be able to pick ourselves up and motivate ourselves when we are down. Waiting for someone else to reinforce our direction or attitude may have us waiting for a long, long time.

That Spark of Greatness

March 2, 2010...

What would spark you to do something great?

Walt Whitman wrote the great American classic, Leaves of Grass, because he was sent an encouraging note from Ralph Waldo Emerson that basically said "Go for it!"

The king of Microsoft, Bill Gates, was initially motivated simply by a desire to advance technology.

What's Your Story?

March 1, 2010...

We're strivers.

We strive for a better job, a nicer car, and a bigger house. We strive to be popular, cool, and well-liked. We strive to be successful. We strive to have money. We strive to be loved.

No wonder we're all so darn tired at the end of the day. Striving all day long can do that to a person.

But if we are really so intent on striving, how about striving to make our life a great story?

Feelings are NOT Facts

February 28, 2010...

FEELING defeated?

Have you had a day recently where you FEEL nothing went right?

Has there been a moment lately where you FEEL that you're spinning your wheels and going nowhere in your career or a relationship?

If so, take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember that "feelings are not facts."

The "BIG Minded People" Club

February 27, 2010...

Oprah is definitely one.

So is Trump...and Gates...and certainly the President.

Add Hillary and Will Smith and every organization associated with a grand cause to the list, too.

You can write your name on the list and be a member, too, if you'd like.

You can...that is...if you can think BIG enough.

February 26, 2010...

Is there a goal you once had that has been cast aside because of life events?

Perhaps it's time to revisit that goal, and once again, direct your own destiny.

The day we TEMPORARILY stop trying to accomplish something that is important to each of us is the day we allow ourselves to be pushed to the passenger side of our own life journey.

NINE words. THREE questions.

February 25, 2010...

The older we get, the faster it seems life flies by, doesn't it?

How many times have you found yourself asking "Where did the day/week/month/year go?"

Lots, no doubt.

As the months of the calendar pages inevitably turn from one to another, it may be a good idea to start thinking about NINE simple words composed in THREE complex questions.

1. Did I live?

2. Did I love?

A Debilitating Emotion

February 24, 2010...

I'm sure you've experienced it.

That sick feeling in the pit of your stomach that has the ability to cement any and all forward movement.

That voice in your head that shouts out, "Don't do it! It's too risky!"

That singular moment when you put everything on hold.

The experience is FEAR. And its effects can be debilitating beyond imagination.

FEAR causes us to quit. It causes us to stay.

An End of the Day Test

February 23, 2010...

At the end of the day, what do you remember more: the good things that happened...or the bad things?

At the end of today, take a test.

Type into the search engine of your brain: "What do I remember about today?"

What events, people, experiences, and moments come up?

Your answer might tell you a lot about what you've programmed your brain to focus on the most in life.
