#512: That’s Freakin’ Crazy

Dec 2, 2021Blog Post

This week…I turned 59.

That’s freakin’ crazy to me.

59?

Isn’t that supposed to be the age of my parents?

I mean zero offense to readers older than 59…but I’m pretty sure each of you has felt what my heart means. I’d bet you’ve also been sacked with the thought:

“How did time pass so fast?”

I remember so much of the last 10, 20, 30 and 40 years as if each happened just a few years ago. But events didn’t happen just a few years ago. Some of what I remember so clearly happened 30+ years ago.
_______

Some people love birthdays.
I’m just not one of those someones.

For me…

Birthdays are a blunt reminder that I get a limited number of laps around the sun. My father was given fewer than 60. So when one of my precious 365-day laps ends, I use the start of my new lap not to celebrate and party, but instead, to light my passion’s “Do it!” match.

How?

I dive into heart.
And dream.

I dive into mind.
And plan.
_______

In the reflective process…

In no way am I thinking about my yesterdays and what I’ve done.
I’m thinking 100% about my tomorrows and what I want to do.

And I sincerely ask myself…over and over and over:

“One year from now, what do I WISH I would’ve done?”

This week…

The five answers I gave myself are what I AM going to do in the next 52 weeks.
_______

Can ME having a birthday be of value to YOU?

I’m pretty sure…”Yes.

It’s in my question.
It’s in your answer.

2022.
It’s coming fast.

What if you asked a version of what I asked me?

“When 2022 ends, what do I WISH I would’ve done?”

The question is life-changingly important.

Because THIS is our one mysterious and miraculous life.
Because THIS is our chance to run crazy-cool laps around the sun.

So…

Quit pretending you’re gonna’ get done all the things you want to get done.

Dream, plan and live as if you freakin’ REALLY believe it.

EXTRA Thoughts

Hope.

It isn’t found dwelling on yesterday.
It is found planning tomorrow.
