#482: Loving the Getting There
Achieving a goal is not what I love the most.
It’s the trying to get there part.
In writing today’s blog…
It’s wasn’t hitting “SEND” on the finished product I loved the most…
it was chasing an idea and then searching my brain for the words as I wrote it.
For each of the books I’ve written…
It wasn’t unboxing a just-printed book for the first time I loved the most…
it was the process of coaxing each paragraph of that book into existence.
For each of the nine countries I’ve walked or pedaled across…
It wasn’t the final day of each of the long journeys I loved the most…
it was the adventures and struggles of all the miles before the last mile.
Without a doubt…
I want to inspire.
I want to succeed.
I want to see results.
I want to cross finish lines.
BUT none of those are what motivates me to keep going.
I love the trying.
I love the creating.
I love the believing.
I love the journeying.
THAT is where my passion to “go for it!” is found.
Running out of juice on your goal?
Then here’s a thought:
Wherever you’re trying to go…love the trying to get there.
EXTRA Thoughts…
If we define our lives by our results, will there ever be room to be happy? Love painting rainbows instead of forever chasing them. We’ll be awed much more.
