Blog #684: Magical Life Fixes

Why “Magical Life Fixes” Never Last.

Magical Life Fixes is Shawn Anderson’s bold reminder that real transformation doesn’t come from shortcuts but from steady, committed action over time.

The number was in my phone.
I knew who was calling.

I answered.

______

I had last talked to her three months ago.

Back then…

We had created a 3-part specific plan to get her life out of a funk.
She was excited when our call had ended.

This time, however…

She was the opposite of excited.
She was doing her best not to cry.

______

She caught me up.

“My life’s the same. I’m angry and frustrated, and things are not better.”

She walked me through her life…today.
I took her back to the conversation we had…three months ago.

I asked, “Did you work the plan we created to change things?”
She said, “No.”

I was hit with a wave of frustration.
I asked despairingly, “Why not?”

She started listing excuses.

I continued, “Then why would you expect to BE in a different place…now? Why would you expect your life to change when you DON’T?”

______

Experience has taught me this…

There’s no such thing as a magical life fix.
Unless we choose to be the magician.

If we expect our lives to change into GREAT when we add ZEROS to it…
Then we are masterfully deceiving ourselves.

If we’re doing zero about our lousy relationship
If we’re doing zero about our faltering success
If we’re doing zero about our uninspiring job
If we’re doing zero about our weak finances
If we’re doing zero about our fading health

EXCEPT whine and complain…

Then we are where we are because of us.

______

In looking at our individual lives, I end with two questions:

1. Will we continue to complain or choose to change?
2. Why do the first, if we lie to ourselves about the second?

EXTRA Thoughts

Our thoughts move in the direction our feet walk.

Miss last week’s blog?

I shared five thoughts on how we can live our best days when our best days would rather not live with us. And it includes frogs.

Curious?

The Frog at My Door

I hope I added value to your thinking.

Thank you for reading today.

With gratitude…
