Blog #689: If I Didn’t Stop for a Second

Apr 24, 2025Blog Post

Why “If I Didn’t Stop for a Second” Encourages Us to Breathe.

If I Didn’t Stop for a Second is Shawn Anderson’s gentle reminder of the value in pausing, breathing, and reconnecting with life’s small, essential moments.

689.

That’s the number of Thursday blogs I’ve sent.
That’s a whole lot of Thursdays.

______

On average…

Each blog takes me about twelve hours to brainstorm, write a first draft, decide I want to write something else, write another first draft, write a second draft, then edit, edit, edit, edit…and finally load it online and hit “send.”

689 blogs
x 12 hours
= 8,268 hours

That’s 345 days of consecutive writing.

If I didn’t stop for even a second.

______

Add to this number…

The writing of seven books and journaling every day for 30+ years…and it’s safe to say my head, heart, and fingers have been collaborating together figuring out this “life thing” for an easy 4-5 years of my life.

If I didn’t stop for even a second.

______

Writing has molded me and guided my life.

My continuing practice of hunting down words to match my thoughts and feelings has led to me solving innumerable personal challenges, understanding a lifetime of wins and losses, giving solid foundations to ideas and dreams that once floated on air…and communicating with hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

I will write until I die.

______

As much as anything…

Writing fuels me.

It fuels my inspiration.
It fuels my passion.
It fuels my purpose.

Interested in growing more of those three?

Then write.

______

Over thirty years ago…

I read words that inked themselves on my brain permanently.

“A life worth living is worth recording.”

I’ve never lost the guidance of that thought.

______

If you’ve been thinking…

You’d like to grow your self-awareness, confidence, discipline, passion, or purpose… well, how about setting a daily (or at least a weekly) writing date?

With yourself.

Write thoughts.
Write feelings.
Write goals.
Write dreams.
Write challenges.
Write poems.

Write your life.

I’m thinking if you do…

You’ll wake yourself up in the best of ways.
It’s been that way for me.

For 689 Thursdays.
And counting

EXTRA Thoughts

When I journal…

I may start out struggling as I write painful words to express about what I may be living in that moment. But as I end that day’s writing, I regularly discover I end up hearing my better self talking.

Miss last week’s blog?

I share three questions to ask that can inspire your every day.
