Blog #694: Last Night’s Secret

What “Last Night’s Secret” Tells Us About Listening.
Last Night’s Secret is Shawn Anderson’s story about the quiet insights and truths that come when the world slows and we’re left alone with purpose.
In Last Night’s Secret, Shawn reminds us that breakthroughs don’t always shout—they whisper in moments of reflection.
“Create a great day!”
It’s been my tagline for thirty years.
And there’s a secret to making it happen.
______
It starts the night before.
Before I go to sleep…
I have a vision of what tomorrow will look like.
But it’s not as complicated as you might think.
I’m not planning an hour-by-hour schedule of what I’m going to do.
For me, that’s unreasonable and impossible.
But I do identify the ONE big thing that I’m definitely doing.
It’s tomorrow’s non-negotiable.
______
Why plan the night before?
When I look at tomorrow before tomorrow arrives, tomorrow grows in direction and sprouts intention before it even starts.
Mornings are too risky.
If my day’s success was to be determined by how I feel when I wake up…
my accomplishments would be a much shorter list.
Great days aren’t created by doing what I feel like doing.
Great days are created by doing despite what I am feeling.
______
One last nugget…
I write my ONE big thing down the night before.
My commitment sinks deeper when I sink deeper into commitment.
Without my full-blown commitment…
A day turns random.
Events control the day.
I start wishing for luck instead of creating it.
I don’t want to live like that.
Do you?
______
So tonight?
Give your tomorrow a giant gift.
Cast a vision for what it will look like.
And live your vision.

The Quiet Moments That Move Us.
Let Last Night’s Secret be your reminder that clarity often arrives in stillness, not noise.
EXTRA Thoughts…
This minute.
This hour.
This day.
This can never be lived again.
