Blog #722: My Race Against the Clock
Two nights ago…
I was urgently racing the clock.
I hadn’t finished my book.
______
I had checked out an e-book from the library.
It’s perhaps uncommon knowledge that e-books CAN be borrowed from the public library. It’s my #1 way to access books.
For this book…
I had 90 minutes left to finish before it would silently disappear from my Kindle and be returned to the library.
There was already a waitlist to read it after me, so renewing it immediately wasn’t possible. Therefore, I raced through the cliffhanging final pages in record time.
And…
I soaked in a satisfying great ending.
______
Books.
This particular book was an exciting action and adventure fiction in a series whose author I’m a big fan of. I often read fiction because it provides an escape and breather from real-life days of aspiring and inspiring that are often…tiring.
Now I know I’m a guy that has authored a few books, so of course it’s easy to assume that I write this week’s blog because of that…but that wouldn’t be true.
I’m writing this week as a passionate READER.
And as a passionate reader, I gotta’ share…
If you don’t read books, I strongly encourage you to create the time to start. They add (and continue to add) so much positive value to my life.
Perhaps…
I’ve planted a 2026 resolution for you.
______
I love books!
Reading has advanced my knowledge of the world and people, grown cool ideas in my head, planted great vision for personal adventures to be lived, and honed my own communication and writing skills.
They have made a HUGE difference in my life.
As the years of my life begin to sprint by…
I see clearly that there have been three great blessings that have shaped my attitude and success far more than any others.
1. The books that I have read.
2. The people that I have met.
3. The nature that I have walked.
For me…
These three have been my difference-making heroes.
______
So in doing my best to neatly tie up this week’s blog…
If you’re looking for secrets to living your best life, I’ve got three for you.
1. Books.
2. People.
3. Nature.
They’re a great place to start when looking to add a touch more energy, passion, and purpose to your world.
I promise…
I’m planning on my 2026 to be rich with more of all three.
I hope yours will be…too.

PS: The photo above is a common scene in my world. That’s EMi. She obviously reads faster than me because she’s consistently nudging my hand with her nose to turn the page before I’m finished reading the page. 😉
EXTRA Thoughts…
In my deepest heart…
I believe that if we don’t read or listen to books… we do our lives an injustice that we can’t even begin to know…unless we read.
I hope you create the time.
✨
Missed last week’s blog?
I posed the question, “What do you want?” I thought there were two ways that answer could go.
Curious?
Here is last week’s blog:
The Greatest Balancing Act of All
✨
And one more thing before I go this week…
I’m privileged to have this small connection with you. Thank you for reading me.
See you next Thursday.
With humble gratitude…
