Blog #725: My 2026 Secret?
It goes by too fast.
I graduated from college in 1985.
It’s 2026.
That’s 41 short years.
______
It seems…
A new calendar gets tacked up more quickly the older I get.
I often feel the quick movement of time.
And life.
That’s why many of my blogs are extra direct. I don’t have time to BS my life. You don’t either. WE don’t have time to waste pretending “Someday I will.”
There’s nothing pretend about these three thoughts:
1. New calendars turn into old ones…fast.
2. There’s a limit on the number of new calendars we’re handed to tack up.
3. If we want to create more life in our lives, it won’t be found pretending.
Perhaps you may think…
“I’m waiting for the right time.”
To think that — is not a luxury.
To live that — is an excuse.
______
Back to 2026.
I’m positive there are 5,000 readers who are hoping it wears more hope, greater success, and better opportunities than 2025 did.
And if you’re one who passionately desires that this year grows into something different than what you lived last year, let me bring you back to real life.
“How are you going to make THAT happen?”
______
Creating success is more than wearing wishes.
The aspiration to live better doesn’t automatically make BETTER happen.
We need more than words, feelings, wishes, dreams, and aspirations.
We need “How I Will” plans.
So in planting seeds, this is how I’m crafting my 2026.
I’ve made TWO New Year’s resolutions:
#1. Make 2026 an inspiring adventure.
#2. Mondays.
That’s it.
______
“That’s it?”
Not exactly.
My specifics live in every one of my Mondays.
What do I want to do?
What do I want to achieve?
What do I want to create?
How do I want to inspire?
Who do I want to encourage?
Where do I want to go?
How will I stay healthy?
Mondays are the key to creating a successful year. Mondays will color in the details of how I’ll “make 2026 an inspiring adventure.”
______
I’ve learned too many times…
GIANT New Year’s resolutions are TOO hard to maintain.
They’re too big.
They’re set up to ultimately fail.
And when a New Year’s resolution eventually falls on its face…
Discouragement and defeat begin to grow heavy in the brain.
And when discouragement and defeat show up…
Ounce by ounce, we begin to believe in ourselves less…
until eventually, we find ourselves living in survival mode.
Again.
And then we start wishing for a new calendar year to start.
Again.
______
“Screw surviving!”
In 2026, there will be 52 Mondays.
On each of those new Mondays…
I will answer these questions:
What do I want to do?
What do I want to achieve?
What do I want to create?
How do I want to inspire?
Who do I want to encourage?
Where do I want to go?
How will I stay healthy?
And then I’ll create a plan.
If in any one week I fall short in succeeding with my plan, I don’t have to feel crappy about myself, nor do I have to live the “just survive” pattern.
The calendar will give me a new Monday.
______
Monday resolutions have a life of ONE week.
There’s nothing overwhelming about that.
That keeps me focused on the present.
That continually reignites my passion and purpose.
And it’s sustainable.
Mondays.
They’re where our greatest and most difference-making power lives.
______
At the start of every new Monday…
If I like where I’m going, I’ll continue my action for seven more days.
If I don’t like where I’m going, I’ll reroute myself and change my plan.
Every Monday…
I renew or redo.
______
How will I capture the power to create a great 2026?
I call it Resolution Monday.
And I’m IN.
Are you?
S.
EXTRA Thoughts…
Creating the life we love always begins with getting off our butt. And our “but…”
May we use LESS of both in 2026.

Missed last week’s blog?
I shared a letter I initiated….to a guy named Santa.
Curious?
