Blog #744: What I See Every Thursday

May 14, 2026Blog Post

I think my signature sign-off is sticking.
Many emails coming back now close with:

“Gratitude…”

______

I love the people who read this blog.

Not because they see me.

But because they are kind—even when the world isn’t.
They are passionate—even when life drains them.
They are compassionate—even when it is difficult to stay open.

I see it in the emails you send.

In your words.
In your questions.
In your encouragement.

In how you show up—even when life is heavy.

______

That is why I can say this about you:

You want to make a difference—even when you feel you’re running on empty.
You live with positivity—even when life gives you little reason to.
You take responsibility for your life—even when it would be easier to blame.

You keep going—even when quitting would feel justified.
You show up—even when you’re tired.
You keep giving—even when there is nothing left in you to give.

And you still encourage others along the way.

______

I am one of you.

Still learning.
Still trying.
Still becoming.

We are not perfect people.
We are not untouched people.

But we are people still choosing who we will be in this world.

That is what I see in your emails.
And that is what keeps me writing.

How could I not feel gratitude for that?

______

Thank you to those who found this blog.

Some just subscribed this week.

Some have been walking with me for 17 years.

My life would be smaller without Extra Mile Thursday.

I would have reflected less.
I would have achieved less.
I would have become less.

______

My mission for over 40 years has been simple:

“Empower 1 million people to live a more passionate, positive, and purposeful existence.”

People sometimes ask,

“How close are you to 1 million?”

Truthfully…

I start the count over every morning.

So if something here impacts your life today—even in a small way—

You are “Person #1” in my 1,000,000.

______

One more thing…

I answer every email.

Every one.

It’s the least I can do because you chose to read my thoughts and share your life.

Thank you for taking time to be here.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Gratitude…

S.

EXTRA Thoughts

There are far more kind hearts in this world than we will ever see.

But every time we go the extra mile…
The world somehow reveals another one.

Last week…

A reader asked:

“I keep showing up for someone who keeps taking from me. Am I right to keep hanging in there with this person?”

My blog answer:

When Showing Up Starts Costing You

This week…

May you feel gratitude in your breath.
May you find gratitude in your steps.
May gratitude be heard in your words.

I’ll see you next Thursday.

Gratitude…
