Blog #764: Is NO Hiding in Your KNOW?
I write only one of these a week.
EVERY week.
764 times.
But each week…
I have 20 Thursdays jogging in my head.
This week…
I’m taking three out for a run together.
Read on.
______
#1. I KNOW. I NO.
(Walking like we know… when we don’t.)
“I know.”
But do I?
Or is “know” sometimes how I pull one over on myself?
We don’t even have to admit an ounce of fear.
Because we already “know.”
Our “know” becomes an easy way to say…
“No.”
I know… I won’t like cruising.
So no… I’m not going to take a chance and go.
I know… I won’t get a raise.
So no… I’m not embarrassing myself by asking.
I know… there is no way I can reach the goal.
So no… I’m not even going because I’m tired of failing.
Our “know” is sometimes FEAR pretending to be FACT.
Once I decide I “know” what will happen…
My hoping.
My trying.
My planning.
My moving.
STOPS.
And that’s where my “know” turns into…
“No.”
It stops me from seeing what I’m burying.
A great idea.
One more chance.
A reason to hope.
A possibility I never explore.
Ready for a dark truth?
We say “No” before we really “know.”
______
#2. TAP IT ON THE SHOULDER.
(Jogging with your sneakers… tied together.)
That idea you’ve been talking yourself out of?
Tap it.
See if it has a pulse.
That person you’ve been too afraid to ask?
Tap them.
See what is created.
That dream you’ve buried in someday?
Tap it.
See if someday can breathe today.
Sometimes…
We don’t need to blow up our lives with a reckless leap.
We just need to tap the thing we’ve been afraid to touch.
One little tap.
And maybe someday stops waiting.
______
#3. MERRY-GO-ROUND MEDIOCRITY.
(Running hard… and going nowhere.)
Same old thought.
Same old feeling.
Same old routine.
Same old habits.
Same old excuses.
Same old result.
Same old day.
Same old life.
Same old ride.
Sure…
You’re moving.
Round and round.
You’re going nowhere except where you’ve been.
And you’ll go there again tomorrow.
And next week.
Month.
Year.
And one day…
you look around and realize the merry-go-round has been your life.
We can waste our lives feeling busy.
We can mistake repetition for living.
We can get so busy moving that we never notice we’re standing still.
Sometimes…
Going the extra mile isn’t about going farther.
It’s about getting off the life-sucking merry-go-round.
______
Thank you for…
Walking.
Jogging.
Running.
With guts.
On Thursdays.
S.
EXTRA Thoughts…
Still adventuring.
Still creating.
Still going.
Still doing.
Because…
I’d still rather live stories than read them.
✨
Last week…
I wrote about a guy who shined a light on one little word…and that little word shined a light on hope.
Curious?
Here’s the blog:
✨
This week…
May you tap what could be your best future…
On the shoulder.
No more merry-go-riding.
Thank you for being a kindred spirit.
Until next Thursday…
With appreciation and gratitude…
