Blog #533: Blank Slate, Magic Markers
I was walking on the ocean beach path…
when I passed her.
She was walking her bike.
“Did you run out of gas?” I teased.
“This is a dangerous part of the path for me to pedal,” she said. “There are too many fast bikes, and I’m not used to that.”
“I get it,” I said. “Some of these riders almost run me over, too!”
“I learned to ride a week ago,” she continued. “I’m still not very confident.”
“You JUST learned to ride a bike a week ago?” I asked with surprise. (She was definitely in her 30’s.)
“Yes! I never had a chance to learn as a kid…but living near this path and seeing all the people riding…it looked like so much fun that I decided to learn.”
“How’d you learn? Did someone teach you?” I asked.
“I watched YouTube videos,” she said enthusiastically.
“And how do you like it now that you’re officially a bike rider!?” I smiled.
“I love it!” she answered.
______
“Today’s the day!”
To do.
To start.
To continue.
To learn.
To plan.
To go.
“Today’s the day!”
That single thought has the power to kick-start positive thinking and give hope and optimism a “Let’s do it!” wake-up call.
Like learning to ride a bike for the first time.
For me…
That ONE inspiring thought has nudged me to take difference-making ACTION more times than I can count. And every time I do…my life becomes colorized.
______
Today’s a blank slate.
Yesterday is history…and you and I carry a set of magic markers in which we have the potential to write and color on today’s slate whatever we want.
And with that kind of creative awareness and authority, shouldn’t we be asking every day…
What do I want to do?
What do I want to start?
What do I want to continue?
What do I want to learn?
What do I want to plan?
Where do I want to go?
Because when you want it to be true…
“Today is always the day!”
EXTRA Thoughts…
The largest unofficial organization in the world sheepishly boasts the motto: “I WISH I HAD!”
Today is the day to cancel our memberships.
