Blog #673: Are You the Many?

Jan 2, 2025Blog Post

Welcome to 2025.

I’m anxious to see what adventures I can create
and what differences I can make this year.

I hope you feel the same about your own possibilities.

______

MANY use Day #1 of a New Year to set sights on living a new life.

Likewise…

MANY have failed with the January 1 “New Me” strategy.

They’re now wondering…

“WHY even do the failing ‘resolution thing’ again?”

“Thank you for your emails in 2024, Shawn. I read every Thursday and even keep a file specifically for them.

I’ve written you twice since subscribing, but I’ve never asked you a question. I think what I’m thinking now, though, might help your other readers if you answer it in your blog.

Next week, we start a new year. Every year before this, I’ve been hopeful that the new year will bring new changes in my life. But every year I vow to change, I succeed in failing.

This year, I’m not even going to make a resolution. Why set myself up to fail again? Can I ask what you would say to this?”

______

Dear friend…

Definitely I’ve…

Been there.
Done that.

As I address your email, please know that I’m not only writing for you, but also for me. If we’re lucky — you with your question and me with my answer — maybe we can plant a few seeds with other readers today, too…huh?

For the 2024 new year…

I wrote about avoiding the BIG 365-day resolution, and instead, chose to make 52 7-day resolutions. Every Monday starts the beginning of what we want to do and change in our lives. It is much less overwhelming to think of goals in that way…and in doing so, we give ourselves 52 chances to get it right.

I still like and utilize the idea.

But…

My brain is always thinking about and tweaking new strategies and philosophies for my own personal growth…and this year, I have been sparked by a new thought that turns resolutions into a day-by-day thing.

I call it…

An inch.
An ounce.
A minute.

That’s my 2025 mantra.

At this stage in my life…

I’m not seeking to push myself to create and achieve more than I ever have, but rather, I’m intent on just trying to get the most out of myself each day. This means that on days when my brain, body, and spirit are tired, I’ll just…move an inch, lift an ounce, and go a minute.

Doing whatever.

In writing.

In reading.

In creating.

In speaking.

In stretching.

In exercising.

In contributing.

In participating.

In decluttering.

In 2025…

I’m not looking to break records.

I’m just looking to move forward.

So yes…

A new year is here.

A new chance to live a better life.

But also…

A new day is here.

A new chance to live a better life.

So for MY today…

An inch.

An ounce.

A minute.

I’m thinking…

If I keep that focus, over the next 365 days, goals will be achieved and a whole lot of adventures and difference-making opportunities will be created.

What do you think?

Thank you for reading my blog.

Thank you for your question.

And may your 2025 be loaded with lots of beautiful inches, ounces, and minutes.

Happy New Day.

Gratitude.

S.

EXTRA Thoughts

If you KNEW this was the last year of your life… what would you want to see, do and live?

My wish for you in 2025…

May the dreams your heart breathes…
Be the steps your feet walk.

Thank you for starting your year with me.

With hope, kindness, and gratitude…
