The Two Are Dating: How Actions and Outcomes Are Always Connected

Welcome to ShawnAnderson.com, where every action leads to a result. In today’s blog post, The Two Are Dating, Shawn Anderson explores how the choices we make today influence our future. Success isn’t random—it’s directly tied to the effort we put in. Just like in a relationship, actions and outcomes are constantly shaping one another.

“You find the energy to walk to the top of mountains. I’m ecstatic if I find the energy to drive to the store.”

(A response to last week’s blog)

______

Last week…

I wrote about walking to the top of a mountain in St. Thomas in the Caribbean.

It sparked a lot of responses with the same tone.

“It’s easy for you.”

However, my reality is…

“It’s definitely not.”

______

For me…

Finding the motivation to exercise has never been easy.
As I grow older, I’m learning it’s even harder.

However…

I know that feeling my best physically feeds my best me.
That’s why I push myself to get out the door and exercise.

I do it to feel my best.
I do it to live my best.

The two date in life.

______

Exercise starts my success flow.

Moving my body moves my mind.
Moving my mind moves my attitude.
Moving my attitude moves my passion.

Moving my passion moves my purpose.
Moving my purpose moves my contribution.
Moving my contribution moves my success.

That’s how I tick.

If I want to live my best life…
I know I better be regularly tying on my sneakers.

And move.

______

Rarely…

Do I start the first 10, 20, or 50 steps of any walk, hike, or jog loving exercise.
It’s hard to take myself out of a day’s comfortable, slow-moving hibernation.

I don’t like it.

But routinely…

I end the last ten strides of all walks, hikes, and jogs feeling extra positive.
And with that little body nudge, my thoughts, attitude, and actions rise.

I love that.

Knowing this is how “achieving the hard stuff” works…

I don’t focus on how I’m feeling at the beginning.
I focus at the beginning on how I’ll feel at the finish.

______

This week’s message is a VIP.

“If you desire to live your best life…
commit to living your best exercise.”

At age 18.
At age 98.

“Get your move on.”

Because I assure you…

If you guard health with your best effort…
You will live being more than your best shadow.

The Two Are Dating: Understanding Cause and Effect

In The Two Are Dating, Shawn explains that success and failure don’t happen by accident. Everything we do—our habits, mindset, and decisions—determines the results we see. If we invest time and energy into growth, we create opportunities. However, if we neglect our progress, we remain stuck. Recognizing this connection allows us to take control of our journey.

Aligning Actions with Success

Just as two people in a relationship influence each other, our efforts shape the outcomes we experience. The Two Are Dating reminds us that every small step forward leads to something bigger. Whether in business, health, or personal growth, intentional effort results in progress. By focusing on what we can control, we shift from hoping for success to actively creating it.

Make Every Decision Count

Our choices are constantly interacting with our future. If we want different results, we must make different decisions. The Two Are Dating challenges us to be mindful of the habits and actions we nurture. The more intentional we become, the stronger the connection between effort and achievement.

EXTRA Thoughts

1. Feeling lousy?
2. Succeeding lousy?

The two feed each other.
They inspire each other’s failure.

#1. Miss last week’s blog?

I shared a story about being true to yourself…no matter what direction others try to point you in.

#2. An EXTRA link bonus:

There’s a long-time podcast show host named Kevin Lowe who reads this blog. His show is called Grit, Grace, & Inspiration.

And he knows something about those three words.

In 2003, at age 17, Kevin awoke from a life-saving brain surgery to find that he had 100% lost his sight. Kevin is blind.

But the guy has something extra magical and special in him…and he is an inspiring difference-maker today.

This past week, Kevin surprised me with a link to a recent show where he highlighted one of my blogs.

Take a listen to his 12-minute episode:

“This 1 Word Can Unlock Adventures, Relationships, & Life-Changing Inspiration”

Thank you for hanging out with me this week. I hope I added value to your day…and life.

With appreciation and gratitude…
