to find the time, or to make up our minds.

If we think it will adjust its schedule for us…
we’re setting ourselves up to feel regret.

Here’s a reader’s painful story.

Shawn –

I screwed up my life.

I was dating a great woman who wanted to get married. I wasn’t ready, so I thought I’d take time off from the relationship. Last week, I went back to revisit things with her after two months. I was ready to go forward. Sadly, she’s now serious with someone else. I didn’t think we were done, but it’s now clear we are.

I’m gutted.

And that’s how life flies.

Wait too long to show up…and the chance TO show up disappears.

Wait too long to turn your health around.
Wait too long before going on the trip.
Wait too long to accept the job.
Wait too long to do whatever.

The opportunity will disappear.

Life won’t wait for you and me to find our certainty before we find our doing.

Sure, we can confidently whisper to ourselves…

“When I’m ready…”

I’ll quit.
I’ll start.
I’ll finish.
I’ll continue.

But it doesn’t always work like that.

Life lives with deaf ears to our wishes and wants.
