Blog #703: The Regret I Think About

I was asked…
“What are your regrets?”
My answer wasn’t what she expected.
______
“My regrets?” I started.
What good does carrying that baggage do me? Regrets only serve to grow my bitterness, anger, sadness, and disappointment.
And how do any of THOSE feelings add to my day?
______
MY truth is…
EVERY bad day, moment, experience, or person that has wandered into my past is what it is. There’s zero about yesterday’s “stuff” I can change today.
So why let my brain and heart go there?
If I’ve learned from what went wrong, why let the messiness of my history mess with the promise of my future?
______
I live today to avoid drowning in yesterday’s suffering.
Do you?
If we feel the need to dwell on regrets…
How about considering THIS instead?
What future regrets are we giving birth to today because we’re procrastinating, avoiding, and NOT doing and living now?
______
THAT is the regret I think about.
If I see the distant cliff coming my direction, why am I still heading toward it?
Want to do yourself a lifesaving favor?
Think about the regrets you’re planting and heading for today.
Because they’re the ones you can still do something about.

EXTRA Thoughts…
Don’t hang out with your worst you.
It sucks for you.
It sucks for others when you do.
