Blog #721: The Greatest Balancing Act of All
“What do you want?”
It’s a seemingly easy question…
Yet the answer rarely is.
______
There are two directions to go with this answer.
1. The head’s answer.
It whispers of the immediate, the pressing, the needed, and the crushing.
“I want to get the shopping done. And when I have enough money…get that sound in my car fixed. I’m exhausted, but I need to make dinner…and then, hopefully, get to bed early. Oh…and I need a new job. That’s what I want!”
2. The heart’s answer.
It whispers of the visions and passions of what we’d love to experience and live.
“I want to go to Greece, and I’ve always wanted to see the whales in Alaska. I’d also like to volunteer for a pet rescue. Oh…and I’d love to learn yoga and find the time to read more books! That’s what I want!”
There’s a BIG difference in the whispers of the head and the heart.
There’s a BIGGER difference in the life they each direct us to live.
______
Both are important.
But…
If we only followed what the head pointed us to do, our lives would grow tired and stale…and we’d run out of emotional gas.
And…
If we only listened to the whims of what our heart wanted, life could turn in a very selfish direction with important responsibilities ignored.
______
“What do you want?”
It’s all balance.
And I think when we get there…when we find our own unique life balance… we’ve learned the secret to also finding our best personal happiness.
May you find yours.
May you listen to both head and heart.

EXTRA Thoughts…
Knowing what we want in life is vision. Taking action to create what we want is empowerment.

Missed last week’s blog?
Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. In celebration, I shared two things I’m grateful for.
BOTH were about YOU.
Curious?
Here is last week’s blog:

This week…
May your tomorrows look a bit more clear because you take the time to think about them.
And plan them.
Thank you for reading today.
See you next Thursday.
With appreciation and gratitude…
