Blog #724: My Letter to Santa

Dec 25, 2025Blog Post

In this blog on Thursdays…

I often share emails I write
in response to emails I receive.

But this week…

I’m sharing an email I’m initiating.
It’s to a guy named Santa.

______

Me writing to Santa?

Can we ever be too old to wish for a bit of magic in our lives?

I definitely think not.

So before you read my email to Santa…
Please know my email carries no extra “wish presents” for me.

But it does for THREE readers of this blog.

Maybe you’re one of them.

______

Hey, Santa…

Shawn here.

If you scroll a few hundred pages on your “Nice” list…

I’m pretty sure you’ll find me. I definitely screwed up a few times this past year pretty big and threw numerous bad words into the universe after doing so…but I’m certain I tried my best to BE a good guy.

And because of this…

I’m positive you’ll read my letter.

And…

I’m extra positive you’ll come through.

______

So what am I asking for this year?

THREE things for THREE people.

Sooo…

I write a blog called Extra Mile Thursday.

Unless you’re going by an unrecognized alias, I’m pretty sure you don’t subscribe…but if you were ever tempted, how lucky would I be that you did?

Anyway…

I’ve been writing this blog for a lot of years. I’ve been blessed with thousands of amazing readers from all over the world…and I’m grateful for each of them.

But at this exact moment…

I’m thinking specifically of THREE of them.

Although I don’t know what these three people need in terms of “stuff”…
I know in my heart that they desperately could use a magical “heart” present.

From you.

And with your unique magic — I mean, you give away everything in your bottomless bag to a world that gives you only cookies, milk, and the occasional peed on lap — this request would seem extra possible for a Miracle Magician.

Like you.

______

So back to MY 2025 list…

For Person #1…

The gift of “Fortitude.”

Can you please give this person an extra-mile spirit to keep going when they feel like giving up? The person has something special to give the world…if only they find the power to move forward despite feeling exhausted and defeated.

For Person #2…

The gift of “Inspiration.”

Can you please give this person 365 days where they find encouragement in just one thing a day? I think if they did, they’d again grow their love and passion for their life.

For Person #3…

The gift of “Courage.”

Can you please give this person a spirit of bravery that allows them to step outside of their comfort zone? I’m positive that the brilliant “life spark” they’d feel if they did would change their outlook in a forever positive direction.

______

Well, Santa…

That’s my list.

Three readers.
Three wishes.

I’m positive you’ll know who each person I’ve referred to is. I’m also positive that if they read this letter, they’d be able to identify themself…too.

And ONE final thing, Santa.

“Thank you.”

For inspiration.
For hope.
For miracles.

It’s superheroes like you that the world needs to believe in…most.

After all…

How many people can fly a sleigh high in the sky, guided by nine reindeer, land on different-shaped roofs all over the world, slide effortlessly down chimneys, and who does it all over the globe in ONE single night?

You do.

And I’m grateful I know you.

Gratitude…

S.
