Blog #700: Let One Run

Jul 10, 2025Blog Post

Let One Run Begins With One Quiet Step.

In Let One Run, Shawn Anderson shares a story about choosing calm over conflict—but the message runs deeper. Sometimes, all it takes is one quiet decision to shift the entire tone of our lives. Let One Run is about starting small—one thoughtful choice, one non-reaction, one pause—and letting that single act grow into something much more powerful.

Let me bleed truth this week.

I find it painful…
And I dread it.

It might be easy for you…
But for me, it’s extra challenging.

Stretching.

______

BUT…

I know I need to do it.

It might sound goofy…

But I’d prefer walking five miles carrying fifteen pounds on my back rather than stretching for five freakin’ minutes.

Go figure.

______

As I age, however…

I know flexibility becomes ULTRA important, and stretching needs to be a mandatory part of my fitness ritual.

I also know…

If I don’t do it, someday I will pay the nasty price of NOT doing it.

So I “Let ONE Run.”

______

What’s that?

I stretch for just ONE minute…
and see what that ONE minute grows into.

Possibly…

ONE will turn into two, three, or five minutes. AND maybe if I’m having one of those extra-inspired days, ONE will even turn into TEN minutes.

But doing it for only ONE minute is MY goal.

Then…

I let ONE run to wherever it runs.

______

The Let ONE Run principle works for lots of things.

Walk ONE block…and see if it grows into a second.
Read ONE page…and see how many pages it turns into.
Clean for ONE minute…and see if you keep the mojo going.

ONE minute.
ONE day.
ONE hour.
ONE time.
ONE call.
ONE class.

We’re just going for ONE.

______

Ready for this week’s “I’m looking at YOU” moment?

Here we go.

If you’re struggling with starting (or ending) something that you know needs to be started (or ended)…

Then test it.

Decide your ONE.
And then Let ONE Run.

I think you’ll be happy that you did.

S.

P.S. This weekend, I’m attending my first Tai Chi for Beginners class. I’ll see what happens…but in “walking my talk,” I’m choosing to Let One Run.
