#479: Not Dead. Not Done.

Apr 23, 2021Blog Post

I walk every day.

But now…
I’m getting ready to really get my walk on.

For those who have opened Extra Mile Thursday for a while, you know I’m not one to shy away from adventures far bigger than me. And as soon as the coast is clear, I’m gonna’ walk across country #8.

I sense strongly it will be in 2021.

In getting ready, I’ve started taking my training walks up a notch. Two weeks ago, I took a longer 10.7-mile hike with a group of avid hikers up and down some mini-mountains. My legs and lungs were given a wake-up call.

Leading our small group of seven was an avid world-class hiker named Kurt.
A few years ago, he finished walking a 2,500-mile hike across Europe.

Kurt turns 80 in December.
He started hiking when he was 64.

Feeling the age thing?

Just because you’re feeling it…
doesn’t mean you have to LIVE it.

If you’re not dead…
you’re not done.

Yes…I get the years have flown by.
Yes…I get that we each live with 100 “I wish I woulda’…”
Yes…I get a lot of things.

But if we’re not dead…
we’re not done.

Sure…

Your body might not take you up and down hills or even around the block…
but that doesn’t mean your passion and purpose in other ways has to die.

Go learn.
Go teach.
Go lead.
Go create.
Go encourage.
Go serve.
Go walk.

Act old if you want, but know that when you do, it does you nor the rest of us any good. Whatever regret you wear or bitter you taste that life has passed you by…let it go.

It’s time to start now.
It’s time to start again.

‘Cuz if you’re not dead…
you’re not done.

EXTRA Thoughts

If today is my last day…

May I live it with the deepest passion
and purpose I have ever known.

Thank you for letting me plant a small seed
today in the awesome garden of your life.

With humble gratitude…
