#481: Sitting with Polar Bears

May 7, 2021Blog Post

I love a good story.
This one’s a He Said, I Said.

And it’s about white polar bears.

He said:

We live in an ocean of negative sewage! The lies, hate and selfishness… there’s so much everywhere that it’s hard to not feel bad, mad and sad all the time!

I said:

Then quit looking for the white polar bear.

He said:

Huh? What are you talking about? I’m not looking for white polar bears! I’m talking about all the negative bullcrap in politics, in the world…with people.

I said:

Well…quit trying to find the WHITE polar bear. The one at the BEACH. Laying in the SUN. On the GIANT towel. Wearing a RED polka-dot swimsuit.

He said:

I’m not thinking about any of that! I’m talking about the negative energy everywhere! I’m talking about the meanness people write, say and do! I’m talking about all the crap going on in the world!

I said:

C’mon…really? You’re sure…right now…you’re NOT seeing a WHITE polar bear. At the BEACH. LAYING in the sun. On a GIANT towel. Wearing a RED polka-dot swimsuit. You’re NOT seeing…THAT?

He said:

Well…now I am! That’s what you keep telling me to see! Of course I see a white polar bear at the beach!

I said:

And that’s my point.

We will start seeing and keep seeing what we think about seeing. We get stuck seeing the same because we keep telling our brains to look for the same.

If we see the negative all the time…it’s because we’ve pulled up a beach chair and sat next to a swimsuit-wearing polar bear.

To see differently…

we need to fill our heads with different.

Read different.
Look for different.
Listen to different.
Hang with different.

We find what we seek.

And there you have it.

A story of He said, I Said.

A story where I occasionally star as the “I.”
A story where I too often sit on beaches with white polar bears.

EXTRA Thoughts

We become what we see.
We see what we think.

Thank you for taking a walk with me today.

YOU are appreciated.

With gratitude…
