Blog #537: Work the Window
Landing in my email…
Dear Shawn,
I set next day goals before bed, but the next day comes and goes and my goals remain undone. Why do I even set them? It’s discouraging.
Any suggestions?

My response:
Dear “Next Day”…
I’ve lived this challenge 1,000 days…but I think I’m onto a secret that works.
I work the window.
I’ve discovered that my day has a 4-hour window (8:00 – noon) where my brain power and energy shine brighter than at any other time of the day.
During my window, I don’t let myself get random about my day.
It’s in this four-hour period that I delete momentum busters and let self-discipline grow bold. I go after my BIGGIES. The things my “Procrastination” tends to fall in love with are not allowed to hang out at the “Window.”
I stick with me.
Want to accomplish more of what goes undone?
Find your window.
Work your biggies.
I hope this helps.
With gratitude for you reading…

A little extra this week…
There are three simple things I do that have invisible powers.
They have the power to energize the rest of my day…and the earlier I do them, the more powerful their effect has on my whole day:
1. I pound H2O. I have a 100-ounce bottle that gets filled up every night.
2. I get on the floor and stretch. I don’t like doing it…until after I do it.
3. I read from a book that inspires my brain. It helps me feel my “WOW!“
If I do these things early in the day…
I move through the rest of the day with a lot more vitality.

I hope I added a little extra positive to your walk today.

EXTRA Thoughts…
If you don’t have the energy to do your tough stuff during your window…then that’s not your window.
Here’s the audio version of this week’s blog.
