Blog #668: My Perfect Flop

What “My Perfect Flop” Means to You

My Perfect Flop isn’t just a story—it’s a perspective shift. In this motivational blog, Shawn Anderson reframes failure into strength and growth.

Life teaches us through experience. However, not every experience feels like a win—especially at first. That said, it’s often the unexpected flops that shape us the most. For instance, what looks like a failure may later prove to be a pivotal moment. Consequently, we grow in ways we never planned. And with that growth comes strength.

Let’s be real.

This blog isn’t like a zillion social media posts that share perfect meals, perfect smiles, and perfect moments.

Real life isn’t perfect.

______

Real life wears struggle.

Real life wears disappointment.

Real life wears defeat.

And this week…

I lived all three in one imperfect day.

______

My day was masked in struggle, disappointment, and defeat.

The details of what I lived are not pertinent to this story, but it does matter to know my attitude was left severely limping as the day turned off its light.

The day was a perfect flop.

Because we’re human…

We have days that are flops.

Lots of them.

But what will we do after the flop?

______

Start again.

That’s what we do when we want something different than what Failure wants for us.

We may have fallen off routine.
Start again.

We may have failed at a job.
Start again.

We may have failed at a relationship.
Start again.

We may be devastated by something that happened.
Start again.

______

Starting again and again (and probably again)…

It’s often necessary to get us to where we want to go.

That’s how we heal.

That’s how we build.

That’s how we reach a goal.

That’s how we make things happen.

That’s how we create the life we love.

We take bad days, bad moments, and bad experiences and we don’t let them make our life bad.

We start again.

______

Being gifted with the chance to “start again”?

It’s a perfect thought on a day designed to remind us to BE grateful.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Today…

May we choose to start again on what we’d love to start.

EXTRA Thoughts

We can’t control life.
But we can nudge it.

Nudging.
